19th Century Antiques debuts at Design Days: Classic style in a modern environment

Dubai, March 16th-21st, 2015

19th Century Antiques, Dubai's exclusive French antique Gallery, is pleased to announce its debut at Design Days Dubai (DDD), the leading and most awaited fair in the Middle East for collectible design and limited edition furniture. This year 19th Century Antiques will add a classical element to DDD reflecting the region's desire and increased interest for a broader variety of art genres. Dubai's developing art market includes antiques and collec- tables with a growing trend of mixing modern and classical elements to individualize decor.

Over 40 museum-quality pieces from 19th Century Antiques will be exhibited during DDD. Included in the exhibition are exceptional French antiques by renowned artists, whose works are now in permanent collections of world-famous museums including: Louvre, Versailles, Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, Musée d'Orsay, Petit Palais Museum, The State Hermitage, Beaux-Arts Museum and many others. The selection of items at DDD will include furniture, paintings, bronzes, clock sets, porcelain and decorative items for a variety of budgets and tastes.

During DDD visitors will have an opportunity to own a piece of history. 19th Century Antiques will present prestigious furniture by premiere ébénistes of the time, such as Linke, Zwiener and Sormani. 19th century France is often characterized by changing political and social movements of the time. Art and furniture from the period visually depict this pivotal moment in history, which explains the variety of styles in the collection, from Louis XIV to Napoleon/Neoclassical styles. All the presented pieces include fine gilt-bronze chasing, marquetry and parquetry designs, and the highest attention to detail and quali- ty of materials. Some pieces have secret drawers, emblematic of the period's furniture, such as a ma- hogany and amaranth console dessert table by Henry Dasson.

DDD has traditionally focused on contemporary design: 19th Century Antiques' booth is designed to give a nod to a modern environment. White walls with text panels contrast with classic, gilt-bronze dec- orated furniture, bronzes, clock sets and framed paintings. The booth is curated using laws of symmetry and the golden ratio creating a sense of comfort, space and an opportunity to observe pieces in a tradi- tional layout.
